Changing your Content management (WWW) password

This How-to is intended for: Any audience.

The schools Plone content managment systems all share the same password. This password is not synchronized with any other password systems.

To change your WWW password you need access to your EECE email and a web browser.  Before you set your WWW password make sure that you have chosen a good password. See: How do you choose a good password? (http://staff.ee.uwa.edu.au/support/csu/docs/how-to/choosing-good-passwords).  For security reasons we check passwords and will close any account that does not pass the checks without prior notice (if you have a bad password your account could have been cracked and we don't want to notify the cracker)

To set your initial password:

  1. Go to http://staff.ee.uwa.edu.au/mail_password_form
  2. Enter your user name and click "start password reset" as indicated.  You username is the first part of you EECE email address (eg "testuser@ee.uwa.edu.au" has a username of "testuser")
  3. If all goes will you will see a page that says "Password reset confirmation sent"  If not then see below.
  4. You will get an email to your school email address with subject of "Password reset request"  In it there is a link.  Got to the link address and enter your username and password.
  5. You will now be able to use that username and password to log on to the school WWW sites.

To change your password

Go though exactly the same steps as above.

If you still can not log on then it may be that you need to reset the cookies in your browser.  See: Clearing browser cookies (http://staff.ee.uwa.edu.au/support/csu/docs/how-to/ClearingCookies)
